Pop Music:
Originated in the 1950s, with early pioneers such as Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, and Little Richard paving the way for the genre. In the 1960s, The Beatles and The Beach Boys, among others, helped to establish pop music as a major cultural force. Pop music can be divided into several subgenres, each with its own distinct characteristics and influences. Here are some:

Dance-Pop: This subgenre of pop music features electronic beats and production, and is often characterized by its upbeat tempo and catchy hooks. Artists like Madonna, Kylie Minogue, and Lady Gaga.
Synth-Pop: This subgenre features the use of synthesizers and drum machines and is characterized by its electronic sound. Artists like Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys, and OMD were popular in the 80s
Pop-Rock: This subgenre combines elements of rock music with pop music, and often features a more guitar-heavy sound. Artists like Avril Lavigne, P!nk, and Kelly Clarkson.
Pop-Punk: This subgenre combines elements of punk rock music with pop music, and often features a more aggressive and fast-paced sound. Artists like Blink-182, Sum 41, and The Offspring.
Indie Pop: This subgenre is characterized by its more experimental and low-fi sound. Independent of major record labels, it's usually produced by small record labels or self-produced. Artists like Arctic Monkeys, Tame Impala, and Fleet Foxes.
Teen Pop: is a subgenre of pop music that is aimed at teenage audiences and is characterized by its catchy hooks and simple lyrics. Acts like Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Justin Timberlake all had huge success in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Boy Bands & Girl Groups: Often feature multiple lead singers and are known for their synchronized choreography and coordinated clothing and hairstyles. Boy bands like NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, and One Direction and girl groups like Spice Girls, Destiny's Child, and The Pussycat Dolls have been very successful and popular, especially during the 90s and 2000s.

Country-Pop: This subgenre combines elements of country music with pop music, and often features a more laid-back and folksy sound. Artists like Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, and Shania Twain have all had success in this subgenre.

Artists like Robyn, Björk, and St. Vincent are known for their work in this subgenre.
